Made of plant-residue, these cool lunch trays, firm plates, paper bowls and sleek glasses are the perfect answer. Launched in May this year, Delhi-based company Ecoware produces bio-degradable food packaging. Prices for individual products range from Re 1 to Rs 7, says Rhea Singhal, the founder of Ecoware.
These products biodegrade completely in 90 days and leave no pesticide or chemical residue in the process.
The brand’s marketing executive Mukunda Dolui explains, “These plates are microwave and fridge friendly and can hold liquid for upto 24 hours without leaking.” They can be used for days without the fear of toxins. Singhal says that currently the products are being used in some schools and in restaurants like ai, Sushiya, Bengali Sweets and many more. “Our first public interaction was the Winter Fair at the German Embassy held last weekend, so we’re still fairly new,” says Singhal adding that Ecoware is in talks with retails stores, embassies and airlines.
