Four security personnel and as many civilians were injured after militants hurled a grenade at a security installation in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Wednesday afternoon.
Preliminary reports suggest that the attack was aimed at CRPF installation near Women's College and Oxford Presentation School.
The explosion created panic in the town, more than 60 km south of Srinagar.
The injured CRPF jawans and the civilian were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they were recuperating.
The injured civilians were identified as Abdul Majeed Mir, Abid Ali Lone, Gulam Mohammad Wani and Bashir Ahmad Allai.
Four injured CRPF men were identified as Nisar Ahmad, Chander, Sunil Dure and Chaman Lal Sharma.
More reinforcements were sent to the area which was cordoned off after the attack. The area incidentally is on the route to Amarnath. Those pilgrims who travel from Jammu to Pahalgam for the Yatra, pass through the route where the explosion took place.
However, the police said the Yatra is on without any hindrance.

A civilian was killed in south Kashmir's Achabal area on July 25 when militants tossed a grenade at security forces at a bus stand. Five other were injured in the incident.
