The Chinese-made grenade was hurled at the Durga Temple at Warima market area of Williamnagar, the district headquarter town late on Friday night.

The floor has been damaged partially and the walls have blackened due to the explosion, police said, adding the Garo National Liberation Army is suspected to be behind the attack.

Deputy commissioner Pravin Bakshi, at whose residence a crude bomb was hurled a day before, said, "The militants want to create a fear psychosis. There are reports that the GNLA militants had sneaked into the district headquarter town to carry out subversive activities".
