Mumbai-based model Candice Pinto admits she has lost almost 40 per cent of her tresses with all the gel and mousse that has gone into them for the last two days at Lakme India Fashion Week. And Lu Gill's skin burns with a regimen of three make-up changes in a day, and a routine that often doesn't even leave her time to grab a bite.

If you thought being a model was all about glamour, think again. These leggy beauties have a tough time dealing with hair sprays and straightners, and with at least three or four shows a day, barely get a break in between. "Multivitamins are a must as this can get really tiring. My day starts at 8 if we have a 12 o'clock show. The make-up takes time, and there's a lot of waiting for your turn, which is traumatising," says Pinto.

For model Poonam Nath, saving her skin is of prime concern. So her advice is to remove make-up carefully, using cold wet towels, and to stay away from scrubs. "I always make it a point during fashion week to oil it, and use a conditioner always with shampoo so that it doesn't get ruined," says Nath.

The girls have started to feel the heat as fashion week enters its third day. With so little time between shows, make-up artists are exhausted and designers are at the edge of their nerves. "I also like to party after we finish early (by 9 p.m.), and that too takes its toll. My hair though is ruined, and it's too late to save it now. Sometimes your skin breaks out with all that make-up, causing acne. But that's the price you pay for glamour," concludes Sheetal Malhar.
