The order was passed on Thursday last by Justice K S Jhaveri hearing a petition by a primary teacher Naginkumar Patel, seeking direction for the Sabarkantha district education officer to properly follow government procedure in the inter-district transfers of primary teachers.

After Patel's lawyer filed an amended draft of the petition yesterday the court passed the order which said, "Draft amendment granted. Amendment to be carried out forthwith. Rule returnable in the second week of January 2017. Direct Service is permitted today."

When asked if there was a typographical error in the order put up on the Gujarat High Court website, Patel's layer S K Patel said that there was no error in the order.

Patel had further claimed in his petition that provision of transfer after five years of service as a primary teacher was made on a seniority basis.

Patel also sought stay on camps held by the district primary education officer for intra-district transfer of primary teachers.
