Gujarat's BJP candidate arrested under Arms Act

The six suspects were arrested after police recover a country-made weapon and some live cartridges from the vehicle in which they were travelling.

BJP candidate Jayanti Rathwa from Pavi-Jetpur constituency of Vadodara district is among the six persons who have been arrested under the Arms Act late on Saturday night, official sources said in Vadodara on Sunday.

The six suspects were arrested after police recovered a country-made weapon and some live cartridges from the vehicle in which they were travelling, sources added.

There are several criminal cases registered against Rathwa, police said.

The Pavi-Jetpur constituency has been in news a few days back after supporters of the Congress and the BJP clashed with each other.

About 20 persons, most of them Congressmen, were injured in the incident.
