"The Gujarat government is working on 11 new airports which would come up at pilgrim places like Palitana (Bhavnagar), Dwarka (Jamnagar) and Ambaji (Banaskantha)," Modi said after inaugurating the new terminal at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel airport in Ahmedabad.

"Gujarat has some 20 small and big airports, and to promote tourism we need better air connectivity. We have also floated our own Aviation company to develop infrastructure," he said, adding that his government would soon come up with an aviation policy.

Modi said that the state government has been approached by a company offering to provide intra-state air connectivity.

"The company would run air service between districts. They have sought permission from the Centre for import of small planes," he added.

"We have not been able to match the growth of fliers in terms of infrastructure and human resource," he said.
