Demanding quota in government jobs in Rajasthan, hundreds of Gujjars, led by their leader Kirori Singh Bainsla, on Wednesday continued their march towards Jaipur as authorities beefed up security and promulgated prohibitory orders in the state capital.
After a night halt at Devnarayan temple at Gazipur in Dausa district, the protesters resumed their march, which was kicked off from Hindon town yesterday, at around noon on Wednesday, Gujjar leader Jagram Singh told PTI.
Traffic on the National Highway, connecting Jaipur and Agra, was thrown out of gear as the marchers headed towards the state capital.
The protesters had reached Peepalkhera in the evening after a brief stop-over at Mahua town, Jagram said.
The march began yesterday from Hindon, around 300-km from Jaipur, after talks between Gujjars, who are demanding five per cent reservation in state jobs, and the Rajasthan government collapsed.
Earlier, Bainsla and his supporters had staged a sit-in at Hindon.
In view of the march, the Jaipur District Collector had promulgated prohibitory orders in the city till April 18.

{{/usCountry}}Additional security force personnel had been sent to Ajmer, Karuali, Bharatpur, Tonk, Alwar, Dholpur and Dausa as a precautionary measure, Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) Navdeep Singh said.
