Gujjars, led by their leader Kirori Singh Bainsla, will undertake a march on Sunday to step up pressure on the state government to fulfill their demand for five per cent quota in government jobs.
Thousands of Gujjars would start a march in morning from Gudla village and halt at Hindaun town in Karauli district after covering a distance of 30 kms, thereafter next course of action would be decided, Bainsla told PTI over phone on Saturday.
The Gujjar leader made the announcement of the march at the community's Mahapanchayat (mass meeting) at the Gudla village.
"We were assured by the CM last month that in a week's time he would make all efforts to fulfill our demand of reservation and age relaxation for recruitment in government jobs but later it was not followed up by the state government," Bainsla said.
"The time limit has already crossed and now we are left with no option but to take action. We pressed our demand in a peaceful way last month but no concrete outcome was there for us except mere assurance by the CM," he said.
He said he had directed all his colleagues in other parts of the state like Ajmer and Kotputli to be prepared for mobilising people to the state capital to press for the demand.
