The celebrity duo of Ramakant and Umakant Gundecha enthralled the listeners with some beautiful renditions of Hindi poems penned down during the mid twentieth century, that is enshrined as a major transitory period for ‘Chayawadi poets’ in Hindi literature.

The entire recital was based on the different poetic compositions from renowned Hindi scholars of the pre-independence period including Mahadevi Verma, JayShankar Prasad, Sumitranandan Pant and Suryakant Tripathi ‘Nirala’.

All the rhymes were sung to perfection by both the vocalists. The veracity with which the beautifully written verses were translated into mellifluous notes quintessentially drew the attention of the listeners.

The recitals were interspersed with analysis and interpretations from eminent littérateur Vijay Bhadur Singh that fairly eased up the explanatory level of the programme for the layman.

Instead of a presentation from a group of artistes from Delhi, three documentaries (on the lives of Baba Nagarjun, Dharam
Veer Bharti and Nirmal Verma) and a feature film (Naukar Ki Kameez) will be screened for the art lovers on Thursday evening.
