The area houses over 18 national and multinational banks and is famous for its shopping complexes. Besides, 32 banks have set up their ATMs and nearly 50 companies run their businesses from here, including Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda).

However, residents say all their pleas’ of upgrading infrastructure in the area have fallen on deaf ears.

The sector was constructed in 1976 and at that time, the population was about 200.

However, the figures have increased and the current population stands at 20,000.

Despite so many years having passed, the authorities have not changed the sewage pipes in the sector.

Residents alleged that the sewage pipe gets blocked at numerous occasions and despite repeated requests, the authorities had replaced it with a new one. Further, the area has five parks.

“We receive R1.50 per square metre for the maintenance of parks. This amount is not sufficient. We are compelled to buy manure, pay the gardener, and fulfil other requirements too,” said BD Pahuja, an area resident.

The residents alleged that authorities had also not provided basic amenities like streetlights, well-carpeted roads etc.

Narender Yadav, estate officer, Sector 14, told Hindustan Times, “I don’t think we have problem of streetlights in the sector. But blocked drain and roads are certainly a big issue. We will soon upgrade these facilities.”
