Kamlesh Kumar, who survived after falling on vertical iron bars from the fourth floor of a construction site on Wednesday, showed signs of recovery on Thursday.
Not only did the construction worker recover consciousness, he also responded to gestures by doctors. His blood pressure (BP) and pulse too was normal.
Doctors hope to start the weaning off process from Friday and remove him from the life support system.
Three iron bars had passed through his chest and abdomen, but Kumar (22). After other workers cut him free with electric cutters, a conscious Kumar was taken to Sunrise Hospital, 3.5 km away. He survived after a five-hour surgery.
Dr Nisar Ahmad, co-promoter of the hospital, said Kumar gained consciousness at 1.30 pm on Thursday and also responded to gestures in the intensive care unit (ICU).
“Today he moved his eyes. His BP and pulse rate is almost normal. He, however, has developed a swelling in one of the lungs from the side where the iron rod entered his body,” Ahmad said.
As he is showing positive signs of recovery, the doctors were hopeful of his survival, he added.

The doctors, however, restrained the police from taking Kumar’s statement.
