Stepping up its attack on the Karnataka Governor, BJP, on Wednesday, said H R Bhardwaj has tried to correct his "constitutional blunder" of recommending Central rule and avoid judicial admonition by offering the Yeddyurappa government another opportunity to prove its majority.
"The Governor has rejected his own recommendation. After realising his blunder, he has given another opportunity for the government to prove its majority to avoid admonition by court," senior party leader H N Ananth Kumar said in Bangalore.
He said the UPA government had not accepted the Governor's recommendation, and claimed that Bhardwaj has been "admonished" by it. The Governor's offer, on Tuesday, was aimed at saving his face as his "politically motivated" and "hasty" recommendation on President's Rule would have led to "judicial admonition", Ananth Kumar said, adding, "The Governor has converted Raj Bhavan into Congress Bhavan."
He said the people were "disgusted and sad" with the behaviour of the opposition Congress and the JD-S on the day of the trust vote on Monday when pandemonium broke out in the Assembly. Kumar said the BJP government was ready for division of votes during the trust vote but the Congress and JD-S created an "atmosphere of confusion" as they did not have the numbers.
