Veteran cricketer Gyanendra Pandey on Wednesday announced retirement from first class cricket.

Pandey, whose first class cricketing career spanned more than 17 years, represented India in two one-day internationals against Pakistan in 1999.

The most-capped Ranji Tophy player of Uttar Pradesh, Pandey played 97 Ranji Trophy matches, scoring 4425 runs and grabbing 148 wickets.
Pandey, who represented Central Zone in 18 Duleep Trophy matches, said, "It was a very emotional moment, but I guess every good thing has to come to an end."
He said he wanted to give way to the young and talented players from the state.
