Lakhs of devotees expected on first Monday of Sawan

ELABORATE SECURITY arrangements have been made in and around the sensitive Gyanwapi Complex to avoid any untoward incident and to provide smooth passage for the devotees on the first Monday of Sawan, which will fall on July 17.
Lakhs of devotees, including Kanwariyas, from distant places of different states are expected to throng the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple, situated in the sensitive Gyanwapi Complex.
Barricading has been done from Bansphatak to Chatadwar and Chowk to Chatadwar. The route for devotees has been fixed.
“The security personnel will frisk the devotees in the yellow zone of the sensitive Gyanwapi Complex. Twenty new cameras will be installed from Dashashwamedh ghat to Chowk to monitor the activities of devotees on Monday.” Gyanwapi Security ASP, Jugal Kishore, told Hindustan Times on Saturday.
He said that for the first time, the administration would also deploy cadets of National Cadet Core to ensure smooth passage for the devotees. Two extra companies, 5 ASPs, 13 SPs and constables in the same ratio will also be deployed on Monday besides the existing forces at Gyanwapi.
“Apart from these, the locals traders and members of civil defence will also keep vigil on the devotees,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}The ASP said that the devotees, including males and females would enter in Kashi Vishwanath temple from Chatadwar and after paying obeisance to Lord Vishwanath and would exit from Saraswati Phatak.
“The security and intelligence personnel will also be included in the group of Kanwariyas. These security and intelligence personnel will be included in the guise of Kanwariyas,” he said and added that these personnel will also be deployed in plain dresses at the camps of Kanwariyas.
Besides making security arrangement at the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the district administration has also ensured tight vigil at other prominent temples throughout the city on July 17.
SP (City) Ananat Deo said that security arrangement has been ensured for Monday of Sawan. He said that 700 constables, 90 head constables, 200 SIs, 6 companies of PAC, 4 companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF), 7 ASPs, and 13 DSPs would be deployed at prominent temples and places through out the city on Monday. Besides special security arrangement on Monday, the district administration has already set up 26 new police outposts throughout the city to avoid any eventuality during month-long Sawan.
