The Ghaziabad administration has taken to business like fish does to water, quite literally. Stationed at Vaishali, Kaushambi, Vasundhara and Indirapuram, government-run vans have started selling snacks prepared from fish and prawns. The administration has plans to sell raw fish too.

The Tata-407 vans, from which these snacks are sold, were especially equipped for the project. "We wanted to create awareness among people that eating fish reduces heart diseases," said Puneet Kumar, assistant director (fisheries).

"On the first day itself, the response was overwhelming. We are also planning to start a website. Door-to-door facility would also be introduced after analysing the response," said Naveen Chaudhary, the mobile-van caterer.

These vans sell snacks like fish tikka, cutlets, hot dogs, priced anywhere between R12 to R100, per serving. They also have fish like rohu, catla, grass carp, soal, pomfret on the menu.

These vans would be stationed at different localities on specific days. One can even dial 09411190935, 09897883487 to place bulk orders.
