German 12th seed Tommy Haas beat his first top-10 player in a Grand Slam with a four-set win over eighth seeded Argentine David Nalbandian to reach the quarter-finals of the Australian Open on Monday.

Haas, a two-time semi-finalist in Melbourne, won 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 and will now play Czech 13th seed Tomas Berdych or third-seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko.
