Mhapkar was acquitted after the court observed that the prosecution has failed to prove its case.

Seven persons were killed inside Hari Masjid in south Mumbai when police opened fire on January 10, 1993.

Mhapkar was inside the mosque when the firing took place allegedly on the orders of police inspector Nikhil Kapse.
