Haryana Roadways on Thursday launched its new CNG bus service

which would ply from the NCR towns within Haryana to various parts of Delhi.
The first CNG bus was flagged off from New Delhi by state Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi and Haryana's Transport Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala were also present.
"The CNG bus service was an effort on the part of Haryana Roadways to extend the bus service from NCR towns within Haryana to various inner parts of Delhi," Surjewala said.
He said that after the judgement of the Supreme Court prohibiting the plying of diesel buses inside New Delhi, only DTC and some private operators had been providing bus services, which could not fully meet the requirements of the commuters.
By introducing the CNG bus service with a proposed fleet strength of 150 CNG buses during the financial year, Haryana Roadways aims at improving the connectivity with Delhi for the satellite towns of Haryana. He said that in addition to these 150 buses, 15 low floor AC CNG buses would also be introduced for sub-urban services during the year 2006-2007. Thus Haryana will be the first state in the country to run AC CNG bus service.
Surjewala said e-governance initiatives for improved passenger/customer interaction and to improve the operational efficiency of the organisation were being implemented.
