Presenting the awards at a function at the Jall auditorium on Saturday night, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Chairman and MP Jyotiraditya Scindia exhorted the players to have sportsman spirit not only on the field but also off the field. One has to be determined to complete the task on hand, he said.

He recalled the great contribution of M M Jagdale to cricket and expressed happiness that his son Sanjay Jagdale too was following in his father’s footsteps. Scindia also appreciated Khanuja Cricket Club for instituting the annual award for felicitating the upcoming cricketers.

Sharad Naik was awarded the ‘Shan-e Indore’ title on the occasion for his contribution to cricket. The prize money of Rs 5,000 was sponsored by Guru Harkishan Public School. School principal Khalsi presented the prize money.

MPCA secretary and national cricket selector Sanjay Jagdale was in no mood to address the gathering due to the pathetic performance of Indian team against Australia but he concluded his speech appreciating Scindia’s love for cricket and other sports.

Sajjan Singh Verma said that Sanjay Jagdale and Scindia should help the players who require assistance from the association. MP cricketers have talent and many more players will be seen in the Indian cricket team like Hirwani and Amay Khurasiya, he said.

Earlier, club president Sanjay Lunawat welcomed the gathering and Rajesh Walecha proposed the vote of thanks. Sunil Dudale conducted the programme.
