These have failed to cater to the needs of a large number of lawyers and litigants who want to know the status of their cases.

Over 1,000 lawyers and litigants approach the computer enquiry centre on the High Court premises every day to know the details of cases and their status.

Mismanagement has defeated the purpose for which the centre was established.
A clerk-cum-computer operator at each of the counters searches the database to meet the queries of lawyers and litigants regarding their cases at the High Court. The clerk concerned also has to take a fee from the applicants. The authorities have not specified which counter is for lawyers and which for litigants. As a result, lawyers, litigants and their clerks join the same queue, causing inconvenience to one another. Every day one can see a long queue at the centre between 10 am and 4.30 pm. The queue grows longer during an hour-long lunch break.

Lawyers feel two counters should be designated for lawyers and one each for advocates’ clerks and litigants.

Besides, there should be separate personnel to furnish information and accept the fee. These steps, according to many, may help improve the functioning of the centre .
