A division bench of Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal and Justice Ajay Mittal also asked the ministry to produce rules and guidelines about broadcast. The case related to 'Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka' programme telecast by NDTV Imagine.

The court was hearing a PIL moved by one Surinder Kumar Bansal seeking directions to restrain the NDTV from telecasting the serial as "it destroyed the social fabric of the society."

The petitioner contended that that the serial was an artificial presentation of something unreal and that the very basis of the programme was based on concoction and hypnotism.

He submitted that the ministry overlooked the content of the show, which was not good for the society as people believing it to be true would go to tantriks and quacks. The petition would come for hearing on February 12, when the ministry was asked to file reply.
