HC orders stay on garbage dumping in quarry

The High Court has ordered a stay on dumping of garbage by Kolhapur Municipal Corporation in a quarry at a village around 10 km from Kolhapur.

The High Court has ordered a stay on dumping of garbage by Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) in a quarry at a village around 10 km from Kolhapur.

High Court had directed KMC to acquire the quarry at Toap village for dumping processed garbage of the city six months ago. However, the villagers started an agitation opposing the move and even stopped KMC buses on the route to Toap forcing court to order a stay on its earlier order.
