MG Road in 'Lal Dora' area in the capital is the hub for several major garment showrooms.

The Bench comprising Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Sanjeev Khanna however posted the matter for further hearing by a regular Bench on Friday.

The petition, in the form of an urgent application, was moved by a batch of affected businessmen from the 'Lal Dora' area seeking a stay on the ongoing demolitions.

The stay on the ongoing demolitions was on the ground that the constructions were made prior to the year 2000 and the court's earlier order was applicable only to those constructions made after January 2001.

However, Justice Jain maintained that the 'Lal Dora' area was meant only for residential purposes of the local populace, irrespective of the year of construction.

The Bench said that it was not concerned about the losses claimed to have been incurred by the businessmen as the demolitions were being ordered against all unauthorised constructions.
