It, however, granted bail to Nayak's wife Komal at a sum of Rs 25,000.

The court gave him one week to surrender.

Nayak booked in corruption case

Daya Nayak was on January 21 booked by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on the charge of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The offence was registered at the end of an ACB inquiry against Nayak spanning over nearly two years.

As part of the inquiry procedure a search was carried out at Nayak's residence in suburban Kandivili.

ACB sources said Nayak, a sub-inspector attached to Kandivili police station, would be arrested on January 22, but refused to elaborate further.

Nayak shot into fame for killing more than 50 persons of underworld gang in separate encounters during his posting in Mumbai Crime Branch. He was shunted out of Crime Branch last year following the allegation of disproportionate wealth.
