The Bombay High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail application of Tabrez Telgi, nephew of prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam Abdul Karim Telgi, and asked him to file it before the Sessions Court.

Justice AM Khanwilkar directed Tabrez to seek bail from the lower court and approach the High Court, only if not granted bail by the Sessions Court.
Tabrez had sought bail on technical grounds that though 90 days had elapsed since his arrest, the CBI has not yet filed a chargesheet.
CBI prosecutor PD Gharat argued that a local court had rejected Tabrez's bail application. "He has the remedy to appeal before the Sessions Court and instead, he had directly come to the High Court," Gharat told the court.
Prime accused Telgi, Tabrez and five others were arrested by the MRA Marg police station in south Mumbai early this year for their alleged complicity in circulating counterfeit stamp paper in the city in a 2003 case.
The MRA Marg police station had registered a case against the accused based on a complaint filed by Superintendent of General Stamp Office, Ramdas Potle.
