HC restores Rathore’s pension

The Punjab and Haryana high court today directed the central government to pay former Haryana director general of police SPS Rathore the provisional pension and medical benefits subject to the outcome of his criminal appeal pending in the apex court in Ruchika Girhotra molestation case.

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday directed the central government to pay former Haryana director general of police SPS Rathore the provisional pension and medical benefits subject to the outcome of his criminal appeal pending in the apex court in Ruchika Girhotra molestation case.

The directions came from the division bench headed by justice SK Mittal during the resumed hearing of a petition moved by the Centre.

The Centre had challenged the order of the Chandigarh bench of CAT passed on December 8, 2011, invalidating orders passed by the Centre to withhold Rathore's pension.

However, Rathore had questioned the Centre’s decision before the high court.
