THE LUCKNOW bench of the High Court has directed the civic authorities to file a progress report with regard to improvement made in Indra Lok Colony on Lucknow-Kanpur Road here. The court fixed April 20 next for hearing the matter.

A division bench, comprising Justice Pradeep Kant and Justice SN Shukla, passed the above orders on a Public Interest Litigation filed by the Nagrik Kalyan Samiti of the Indra Lok Colony through advocate RS Pandey.
It was urged on behalf of the petitioners that the colony was handed over to the civic authorities in 1981, but till date, amenities like proper roads, street lights, drainage system and removal of garbage had not been ensured. On the other hand, it was urged on behalf of the opposite parties that necessary steps for laying/repairing roads, improving drainage system had already been taken, while for other matters tenders had been invited and the work would start very soon. In view of the assurance given by the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari (MNA) of the Nagar Nigam, the bench ordered the PIL to be listed for hearing after three months and asked the authorities to file a progress report of the work done on the next date
