THE ALLAHABAD High Court has said that judicial work cannot be allowed to suffer in revenue courts in UP under any circumstances, except in extra-ordinary and emergency situations. It could be stopped only in an event when the officer, presiding over the revenue court, was urgently required on account of extra-ordinary situations like natural calamities, epidemics etc, the court said.

Passing the order, Justice SN Srivastava said that the DM would be exempted from his judicial duties only during the visits of important dignitaries. The order further added that it would be in the interest of justice that in such a situation, the DM assigned his judicial work of that day to an additional district magistrate, so that the work did not suffer.
The order was passed on the application moved by the State Government demanding that judicial work be fixed for three days, instead of four. The court had earlier fixed four days for judicial work by the revenue courts across the State.
Applications invited: Applications have been invited for the posts of assistant district government counsel (civil and revenue) and additional district government counsel (criminal).
