‘He smiles when he sees our daughter’

After two years of the incident his family is still hopeful that one day he will be able to lead a normal life.

“I was pregnant when the blasts occurred. A few months later when I delivered, Parag was unaware that he had become the father of a baby girl. But today he smiles when he sees our daughter,” said Preeti Sawant, Parag’s wife.

The lives of the Sawant family have forever been altered. But today, two years after the blasts, the doctors are optimistic about Parag’s recovery.

“He tries to talk, but is unable to because of the foodpipe in his throat,” adds Preeti, trying to fight back her tears. Parag, who had boarded the Virar train, was on his way home to Mira Road when the blasts occurred.

“Our lives almost came to a halt after the incident, but with the progress in his health, we hope he will recover soon,” said an optimistic Preeti.
