THERE HAS been a marked difference in the state of affairs in the legal profession since I joined as compared to the present one,” said Raghunath Prasad, Judicial Member of the State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.
“The element of uncertainty then was lesser that the present times,” said Prasad and added, the plight of beginners is that they are not economically secured and they are not possessed of sufficient number of cases to show their sincerity and worth, but the future of the younger bar is promising.
As per the learning process, he said the younger bar should study law in the right perspective and be sure of the basics which could lay firm foundation to build up a successful career. Expressing concern over the pendency of cases, he said it was a right time to sit and find a solution to the long pendency of cases. Over 32,000 cases are pending in the commission.
About the prevailing situation in the State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, he said that the commission was being run in a rented accommodation and also the staff compared to the number of litigations filed every day was less.
“Life is not one sees. Life is what one feels. This is how I define my life,” he said reciting a poem. “For me life is more of relaxing with grandsons.” He is also a good cook and enjoys cooking non-vegetarian. As a part of social service, Prasad said he was available for guidance to the younger lot.
