The IG has take a serious note of the fact that Section 120 B of the IPC was not clamped on Pradeep Tripathi, a pradhan from Karchana, in the murder of head constable Ashok Pandey. The IG had directed the DIG to inquire whether section 120 B was deliberately avoided to help criminals.

On the other hand, the DIG is understood to have said that he will direct the investigating officer to take action in the case under section 120 B.

The pradhan had given his motorcycle to one of the miscreants involved in the murder of the head constable. He is also reported to have sheltered some criminals in his house prior to the murder. Yet, he was booked by the police under section 216 of the IPC (sheltering criminals). Pradeep is reported to have confessed that he knew about the possibility of Sujeet Belwa being killed by a gang, but police did not book him under section 120 B.

The second inquiry relates to the out-of-turn promotion which certain cops are claiming after gunning down the miscreant who killed the head constable in the heart of Civil Lines over a week ago. It may be mentioned that another head constable Arun Kumar Dwivedi (currently on deputation with the sales tax department) had played a leading role in gunning down the criminal, but cops have sidetracked his role.
