A live operative workshop under the banner 'Kashmir Health Servics Laparo Update-2013 (KHSLU) was conducted under the aegis of Directorate, health services, Kashmir (DHSK), at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital here on Tuesday.
"The live workshop was part of the effort to enhance the skills of Laparoscopic surgeons across Kashmir division," said the organisers of the workshop.
"The authorities plan to conduct advanced workshops like these so that there is dissemination of knowledge and gain of surgical skills, resulting in advanced surgeries at district and sub-district level," said the organisers.
The event included continued medial education (CME) on minimal access surgery. The guest operating faculty included Dr R Sarangi, senior laparoscopic surgeon, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, and Dr Shalabh Mohan, senior laparoscopic consultant, Max Hospital, Gurgaon. Muneer Khan, director, Kidney Hospital, was leading the local operating faculty team which included Dr H Vaqar Ahmad, Dr Akhtar Ganai , Dr Nazir Wani (organising secretary KHSLU- 2013).
The workshop and CME was attended by surgeons of Kashmir division health services, surgical faculty of Government Medical College, Srinagar, SKIMS Medical College and a galaxy of retired surgical faculty.
The workshop was inaugurated by Kashmir health services director and KHSLU-2013 patron Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, while Srinagar Government Medical College principal Dr Rafiq Ahmad Pampori was the guest of honour.
