ABOUT HALF-A-DOZEN food inspectors from the Health Department and Nagar Nigam have been deputed to monitor every puri being prepared for the unemployed youths.
Over 60000 puris would be served on Friday with pickles and sweets during the state- sponsored ‘Berojgari Bhatta Vitaran’ programme at Ambedkar Rally Maidan. Over 15,000 lunch packets are being prepared under a strict supervision.
The hotel staff has specially been deputed to cook food in the wee hours so that they remain fresh till distribution.
The State’s programme for distribution of unemployment allowance has made officials of the health department to sweat.
Over one lakh people are expected to gather at the ground. Under excessive heat conditions, heat stroke and other gastro-diarrhoea problems could take their toll.That’s why we are taking every measure to handle any untoward fallout.
Special teams of doctors have been formed and every government and private hospital in the area has been put on alert for the entire day. “There is every possibility of heat stroke, diarrhoea and gastro problems to the youth who would camp and queue since morning. Keeping the possibility of health problems we have made large-scale arrangements,” says Chief Medical Officer Dr KK Singh.
If anyone falls sick, hospitals are there to take care. At the ground three medical camps will have doctors from Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherji (civil), Balrampur and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospitals. These camps would have emergency and medical services with a general physician, an orthopaedic surgeon, one staff nurse, a pharmacist and three intern doctors to assist patients, if any.

Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, King George’s Medical University, Civil, Rani Avantibai hospitals would have beds reserved for any patient coming from the ground.
