Addressing the meeting, Female Health Workers’ Association district president Jaidevi Nigam said their main demands were timely promotion, release of salary arrears of the past three months, and putting an end to exploitation.

“An 11-point memorandum was also given to the CMO. But the CMO has accepted only six demands,” she said.

Nigam said the ANMs and female health workers faced a lot of inconvenience in getting vaccines from the CHCs and the PHCs. Travel and maintenance expenditure was also not given to them.

“Moreover, the success of the National Rural Health Mission is based on the ANMs posted at the CHCs and the PHCs. But the government has not given any additional facilities to them. Instead, the work pressure has increased in the last few years,” she said.
