CHANGE IN weather phenomenon is owing to irreversible damage caused to environment, which has resulted in mercury shooting up in the City as well as surrounding areas. Maximum day temperature of the City is hovering around 43 degrees Celsius since past two days and mercury is likely to shoot up further. Since past two days, mercury was at 43.3 degrees mark in the City, which was three degrees above normal.
Weatherman informed that mercury is likely to soar further in the City and entire State, which is favourable condition for good monsoon. Last night mercury was at 25.7 degrees mark, which was also three degrees above normal.
There has been significant decline in relative humidity of the City as wind pattern is southwesterly. Relative humidity recorded this morning was 28 per cent and during evening it dropped to 10 per cent, informed the City weather office.
This drop in relative humidity would cause further heating, which is primary condition for good monsoon. Wind speed was 36 kms per hour today. Weatherman said, however, that high wind speed was adverse condition for good rainfall. Widespread illicit felling of trees in the City and its surrounding areas has caused extensive damage to environment resulting in unexpected shooting up of mercury.
Weatherman said heating of State would create low-pressure area over it, which wais necessary condition for advancement of monsoon as wind moves from high-pressure area towards low-pressure area.
