This year till July-end, the city police have issued around 8,000 challans against such vehicles.

"The Gurgaon police have taken strict action against the drivers of heavy vehicles, who enter the city during the no-entry hours or park their vehicles in unauthoried parking lots," said a senior traffic police official.

To bring down the number of accidents involving heavy vehicles, the police have restricted the movement of buses and trucks in the city.

A traffic police official said only 30 containers and heavy trucks are allowed to enter the city from 11am to 4pm. "There is need of collective efforts to control accidents," he added.
