HELPAGE INDIA will hold a two-day workshop to impart training to trainers on old age issues at Hotel Lake Princess from February 23.

HelpAge India launched this programme for ‘Community Mobilisation and Advocacy for Elderly People’ and also for improving access to Social Welfare Schemes/Poorest Areas Civil Society Programme (PACS) supported by DFID, U.K.

In a press release, Bhopal-based HelpAge India’s Training Officer Aastha Anuragi said during the workshop experts from various NGOs would brief the participants on their role and techniques to handle various situations at ground-level.

The programme seeks to work through a network of civil society organisations working for the aged and the involvement of community, panchayati raj Institutions and olds. It was already launched in 900 villages of selected poorest district of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, she added.

About 300 villages of MP from Betul, Chhindwara and Mandla districts have been selected under the programme. The proposed training is for the representatives of partner CSOs, who are associated with HelpAge in this project.

Group activities would be conducted to address various issues such as build environment for elderly, advocacy for ageing issues, tools and methods for age care, training techniques, and communication technique for ageing issues.
