HEAVY ELECTRICAL Malayalee Association will celebrate Onam on September 3 at Govindpura, TRT Dispensary Building with the traditional fervour.
In a statement issued here, HEMA president Dr S A Pillai said Commerce and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur would be the chief guest at the function and Krishna Gaur would inaugurate the flower show.
Dr Pillai said the association would celebrate Onam Feast in a traditional style and people from all walks of life would participate in Onam celebrations.
To mark the occasion, HEMA will hold a variety of entertainment programmes in traditional manner. Several competitions, including athappoove (Floral) competition, musical chair competition, tug-of-war (Vadam-vali), lemon-spoon race, thread & needle race, onappattukal (songs), lucky-dip, lucky family draw among the others.
Cultural and art secretary M K Shreedharan urged the participants to make their entries in advance. All entries are free and each item would be awarded. General Secretary P R V Kaimal said the programmes would start at 9.00 am followed by the Onam Feast.
