The bloodstains found on the stairs were of the time when cops were carrying the body out of the house. It had till now been suspected that Hemraj was murdered inside the house and the assailants carried his body to the terrace and dumped it there.

An STF team accompanied by fingerprint experts examined the scene of crime on Sunday. The STF team also questioned Aarushi’s parents.

The two were questioned about the locked terrace door and why it was not opened when the Noida police first arrived at the spot.

RB Singh, deputy SP, STF told HT that so far they had found no involvement of the couple in the case. "There is nothing against them so far. They gave satisfactory answers to all our queries," Singh said.

"Regarding the keys to the terrace, the couple told us that they were with Hemraj and it was not their intention to mislead the cops. They said they were already under tremendous shock after their daughter’s murder and it just slipped out of their mind to inform the police that terrace keys were with Hemraj," Singh said.

"Her father told us that he had heard the sound of a spoon falling on the floor and had even told his wife to check. However, she too was sleeping and since they heard no other noise after that, they thought it was someone outside and did not bother to check," Singh said.
