Heroin worth crores seized in Delhi, 5 held

Five inter-state drug traffickers, including a woman, were arrested in separate cases in the city.

Five inter-state drug traffickers, including a woman, were arrested in separate cases in the city and heroin with a street value of Rs 3.5 crore seized from them, police said on Monday.

The Narcotics Branch of the Delhi Police made the arrests in the past four days.

Two persons identified as Javed and Laek were nabbed in Rohini locality of northwest Delhi yesterday on the basis of a tip off that a consignment of heroin is being exchanged, police said.

Javed runs a small workshop in the locality, while Laek is a car mechanic. Both of them have been convicted in drug trafficking cases earlier. One kilogram of heroin was recovered from them.

In the second case, two persons were arrested with one kilogram of heroin in Nand Nagari area of northeast Delhi on Friday. The arrested have been identified as Beena and Rajender Sharma.

In another case, Vijay Jumar was arrested near the Inter-State Bus Terminal in Anand Vihar on Thursday while he was waiting to deliver one kilogram of heroin to somebody.
