Police on Monday seized 5.4 kg of heroin worth Rs 7.5 crore in the international market and arrested one person for possession of the contraband from Bihar's Kishanganj district.

Acting on a tip off, police intercepted the drug peddler, Sunil Rishi, on the Bahadurganj-Dighalbank road and seized eleven packets of heroin from his possession, with each packet containing 490 grams, Superintendent of Police Ranjeet Kumar Mishra said.

The contraband haul was valued at Rs 7.5 crore in the international market, he said.
Rishi, a native of Katihar district, had purchased it from drug mafia in West Bengal for sale in the retail market in Bihar, the official said.
He has been arrested on charges of drug peddling, Mishra added.
