Students turn online to prepare for the big day

With Board exams knocking at the doors, more and more students are using technology to make life easier. Education websites, CDs, e-mails, chats and sms are becoming part of preparations. Nitish Bhushan, a Class XII student of Birla Vidya Niketan swears by e-mails. “Going to school during this time to clear doubts is time consuming,” he said. “So we keep in touch through e-mails.

In fact, our English teacher mailed us additional test questions.” Some have progressed beyond e-mails. Ankur Banerjee, a Class X student of St George has set up online conferences with friends. “Once or twice a week, we solve questions online,” said Ankur.

The group, at present, has 20 students from Sanskriti, DPS, RK Puram, Gyan Bharati and other schools. Ankur, like thousand others, is also a member of e-gurukul, the online education resource site.

Another favourite is compassbox.com. Kusum Gaur, biology teacher at the Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, said CDs help science students immensely. “We use them for diagrams and to describe the functions of the body.” The quickest way to keep in touch is perhaps through the sms.

But it is mostly used to send notes of encouragement. “Parents get hyper. So we keep in touch via sms. It’s a great stress buster,” says Anushree Mukherji of Carmel Convent. Psychologists pay heed!
