A high alert has been sounded in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the terror strikes in Mumbai as authorities reviewed the security situation in the poll-bound state.

A high alert has been sounded in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the terror strikes in Mumbai as authorities reviewed the security situation in the poll-bound state.

The alert has been sounded in the state in wake of the serial terror strikes in Mumbai in which over 125 people were killed and over 300 injured during past two days, police said.

Police were keeping round-the-clock monitoring and patrolling in important areas and poll bound belts of the state has been intensified, they said.

Army and BSF troops have also beefed up security and intensified patrolling along the LoC and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.

Troops are on alert along the borderline to foil any attempt by the militants to infiltrate to this side of the LoC and International Border, official sources said.

J and K Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khuda reviewed the security and election situation in Jammu at a high level meeting of various wings of the police and security forces.

The DGP has asked all wings of police, para-military forces, army and intelligence agencies to work in a coordinated manner and keep a close vigil on the state.
