"We direct the petitioner to point out the specific instances where the rules are not being followed," a bench headed by acting chief justice A K Sikri said.

The court, which has fixed the matter for hearing on February 22 next year, was hearing the PIL, filed by lawyer Rahul Mehra, alleging the elections in various sports bodies were being held without following the guidelines which led to a situation where candidates contest for more than two consecutive terms.

"How long will the courts keep on interfering with such matters," the bench said and asked the petitioner-lawyer to file his submission within two months detailing specific violations by sports bodies.
