High Court stays de-recognition order

THE LUCKNOW Bench of the Allahabad High Court has stayed the de-recognition order passed by the Chancellor against a B Ed college. The Chancellor had acted on recommendations made by the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU).

The Chancellor had acted on recommendations made by the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU).

The CSJMU had recommended de-recognition of about 32 colleges, which included 24 B Ed colleges in the self-financed scheme.

Consequently, the Chancellor withdrew recognition to these colleges.

However, most colleges, whose recognition was withdrawn, moved court to get a stay order against the order of the Chancellor.

On July 4, the court passed an order staying de-recognition of Abhinav Seva Sansthan Mahavidyalaya.

Mahavidyalaya manager SN Srivastava said the order waived off the restriction of admitting students and participating in counselling.

Besides, the university had imposed restrictions on 75 colleges on granting admissions, as they had temporary recognition due to a failure to fulfill UGC norms.

According to university authorities, a fresh inspection was conducted in these colleges and a report was submitted to the Chancellor on June 30 this year, with recommendations for granting permanent recognition to all these colleges.

However, it is generally apprehended that delay in granting permanent recognition to these colleges would create law and order problems on the issue of admissions.
