District Magistrate, Deepak Aggarwal, told HT the contents, authenticity and origin of the letter are being investigated. "It has been sent in the name of a terrorist organisation and revealing the name would not be feasible," he said.

To tackle the threat perception from the said incident, administration and police have chalked out a Special Operational Procedure plan, which would work in coordination with the internal security of all vital installations in the district. Under this plan, internal and external security agencies work on intelligence-sharing.

"A crack-team of 100 commandoes will be commissioned on January 6. This would help us reduce dependency on elite forces in case of terror strikes," SSP L. Ravi Kumar told HT.

Ghaziabad has received such threats in the past but these turned out to be hoax.
