Security was tightened on Friday for scrutiny of nomination papers of candidates in the first phase Lok Sabha elections to Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat on April 20, official sources said.

Para-military and police forces were frisking anyone entering office complex of the Imphal West district Deputy Commissioner here where scrutiny of papers would be done.
As two militant outfits has banned poll-related activities of BJP and Congress, only the candidates, their proposers and close workers were allowed to enter the Deputy Commissioner's office, the sources said.
Nine candidates have filed nomination papers for Parliamentary elections to Outer Manipur constituency which includes all the five hill districts of the state.
Prominent among them were NCP nominee and MP in the dissolved Lok Sabha Holkhomang Haokip, former MP Kim Gangte of Manipur People's Party, BJP candidate Loli Adanee and former social welfare minister Morung Mokunga of Nationalist Trinamool Congress.
