The IP cameras are powered will a software that will allow authorities to spot students indulging in fighting, pop up alerts even if the attendant misses it, besides motion-based detection, object replacement and others certified by the US department of Homeland Security (DHS) as an anti-terrorism technology.

Security experts who face the daunting task of ensuring a secure environment to the students in and around the school premises, term the technology as 'counter surveillance' which they claim, will help overcome the lacunae of human error.

After GD Goenka Public School at Vasant Kunj, the authorities plan to install IP cameras at its Gurgaon-based facility.

"We plan to install a total of 350 IP cameras and 180 have already been activated at GD Goenka Public School at Vasant Kunj," said said Manish Vig, managing director, Kochhar LexServe, a Gurgaon-based company.

Pursuant to undertaking a comprehensive site survey and techno-commercial feasibility study, Kochhar LexServe recommended a powerful, reliable and highly scalable physical security solution combining cutting-edge IP video technology with an advanced storage platform.

The implementation included Verint's Nextiva IP Video Management platform, including video management software and encoders, that leverage the industry's leading networked storage system.

While elaborating on the technology, Vig said, "The conventional system ran the risk of a security attendant missing a particular contraband activity or suspicious development on the LCD screen with 12-16 video input at the same time."

"GD Goenka School is benefitting from Verint's award-winning Nextiv a portfolio features IP Video Management platform," said AK Goenka, chairman, GD Goenka Group.
