You can hire a taxi to Patnitop from Katra. Patnitop is on the Srinagar Highway; after Kud railway station. An overnight stay is sufficient to enjoy the scenery. You can visit the Naag temple, two parks and Natha Top, which is a lookout point located at a great height. Since it is off-season now, you will find plenty of hotels starting from R 350. A clean budget room will cost R 500 to R 800.

Since Rameshwaram is a coastal town, the weather is just like in other coastal cities such as Mumbai, Chennai and Pondicherry. The temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius. You can stay at the Tamil Nadu Hotel run by TTDC, right outside the railway station. There are not too many stay options in Rameshwaram. Most people stay in Madurai, and visit Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari for a day each. Many travel agents conduct such tours.
